Frequently Asked Questions

  • The first session is all about getting to know you (or your child). We’ll talk through current challenges, strengths, goals, and what’s been working—or not working—so far. This session helps me understand how your brain works so we can begin building strategies that feel realistic and supportive right away. You’ll leave with at least one practical tool to start using immediately.

With students we often start with organization. So make sure you bring your backpack and computer with you so we can dive right in.

  • The Learn More session is a chance for us to connect, ask questions, and see if coaching is the right fit. We’ll discuss your concerns, goals, and what coaching could look like moving forward.

If you’re a parent of a teen, it can be helpful (but isn’t necessary) for your child to join for at least part of the session. This gives them a chance to feel comfortable and included in the process, while also allowing time for you to share your perspective.

  • Coaching is highly individualized. Some clients work on a specific goal for a shorter period of time, while others benefit from longer-term support as they build and strengthen skills over time. We’ll regularly check in on progress and adjust as needed so coaching continues to feel valuable and relevant.

  • I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows me to offer that time to another client. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged a $50 fee. No shows are charged the full fee.

  • Coaching is for students, adults, and parents who want support with executive function skills like organization, time management, focus, emotional regulation, and follow-through. Many clients have ADHD, but coaching is helpful for anyone who feels overwhelmed or wants to improve how they manage daily responsibilities.

  • Coaching is a collaborative, goal-oriented process that helps you build skills and systems that work for your brain. Instead of just talking about challenges, we actively develop strategies you can use in real life. Coaching can help you feel more organized, reduce stress, improve follow-through, and build confidence in your ability to manage your day.

  • Sessions are personalized and practical. We typically check in on what’s been working, identify current challenges, and focus on one or two key areas at a time. You’ll learn strategies, practice applying them, and leave each session with a clear plan for the week ahead.

  • The best first step is to schedule a Learn More session. From there, we can decide together if coaching is a good fit and create a plan that aligns with your goals.

  • Coaching focuses on building practical skills for the present and future: like planning, organization, emotional regulation, and follow-through.

For students, this often includes developing awareness of their current understanding of material and creating a clear plan to feel prepared for upcoming assessments. We also build self-advocacy skills so students can learn what they need to be successful and feel confident asking for support. Together, we review tools like grade portals to identify missing assignments or red flags, while strengthening “good student” habits that support long-term success.

One of the biggest challenges for many clients is getting started. A key part of coaching is creating personalized strategies that make starting tasks feel more manageable. Over time, clients learn to become “self-scientists,” discovering what works best for their unique brain.

Therapy typically focuses on emotional processing and mental health, while tutoring focuses on learning specific academic content. Coaching bridges the gap by helping individuals develop the skills and systems needed to manage tasks, stay organized, and take consistent, meaningful action.

  • Sessions are offered both online and in person, depending on your location and preference. Online sessions are highly effective and provide flexibility for busy schedules.

  • Rather than formal testing, I use conversations, observations, and simple tools to understand how your brain works. This allows us to begin coaching right away without adding unnecessary pressure or delays.

  • You’re welcome to start with a Learn More session to see if it feels like a good fit. After that, coaching is flexible—there’s no rigid minimum, though consistency lead to the best results.

  • If you or your child often feel overwhelmed, struggle to stay organized, have difficulty starting or finishing tasks, or feel stuck despite trying hard, coaching can be a great fit. The Learn More session is a low-pressure way to explore whether this support feels helpful and aligned with your needs.
